I thought she sang Memories both the last times I saw her, in January at Tyler and again in May in Indianapolis? I checked to make sure. Colin posted the set list in the Carmel concert thread. I'm surprised to find myself missing "Fix You". It really picked up at the chorus when Peter added his vocals. Mike, you forced me to go back and look too - here's what I wrote in the forum back in January: Her third number was my favorite, Memories, and I don't remember a better and more emotional performance of it. At another point during one of the SO's someone near the middle of the house shouted, "Jackie, thank you for coming to Tyler!" which brought the usual shy giggles.
At least my own memory wasn't completely incorrect!

I have found Jackie's nervous and imperfect piano playing endearing. I agree entirely with you, rick. Jackie's honesty and courage have always endeared her to me. She's been a refreshingly genuine performer since the beginning who's imperfections are as becoming to her as her eloquence. I look at her piano playing in concert as an example of "walking the talk" ......she has often said to never give up on your dream. I'm sure she likely has not dreamed of being a concert pianist but I do believe she wants to play the piano both as pleasure for herself and to use as a tool to spark her creative ability. Anyway this is my belief.

I think Awakening is Jackie's best album. Her voice was at its most spectacular on it, and there was a certain power to the singing that I felt was lacking to some extent on Two Hearts. The "soaring" voice you hear near the end of songs like Open Fields Of Grace are what sets it apart. There is an energy to the songs which is higher than any of her other albums.

I have loved all of Jackie's albums, and have found her voice to be spectacular on each. On every album there are examples of her letting her voice soar, and you can hear her "soaring" voice during several songs on Two Hearts.

Yes, Portrait/Masterworks did a very good job for her on that. It was certainly the best produced she's had, including DWM. I wish she could work with that producer again. All singers benefit from a first class producer.

All singers benefit from a first class producer. I guess that a producer can make or break a recording if I understand Julia's post correctly. That being the case then having a single producer would yield the benefit of the artist knowing the producer's strengths and the producer knowing how best to work the artist. I really think that the sooner Jackie could re-unite with DFoster the better her future will be. It is for certain that Jackie will not succeed as a rock singer nor will she succeed in C&W. We all know her strength with Classical music but it will not fulfill her career by itself. Her future must include pop music if her star is to continue climbing. Currently the vast majority of her fans are seniors that enjoy listening to classical music and who would rather tear their ears off than struggle with (c)RAP noise. But as the years pass and many of us seniors will also pass, new fans will come from a pop music culture. Jackie has a long road ahead of her and it will eventually be dominated by her pop music sound. This is my opinion/belief and I support her venturing into the world of pop music with enthusiasm.

I personally have never liked classical music, but I certainly enjoy listening to Jackie's classical music. I suspect that this in someway has to do with me getting older. Some people who are now getting into middle age will start to appreciate Jackie's classical sound when they get older replacing her current fans.
Jackie has a long and difficult road ahead of her if she wants to be a successful pop singer.

I personally have never liked classical music, but I certainly enjoy listening to Jackie's classical music. I've said a few times that I am a Jackie Evancho fan, not a Classical or Classical Crossover fan. I've tried to listen to others (Brightman, Groban, etc.) and a few artists have a couple of songs I enjoy, but largely I do not listen to anyone in the genre except Jackie. 80s rock and Country makes up the rest of my music library.

It gets the most plays from me followed by DWM. There isn't one mediocre track on the album. I'm trying to warm up to the 2 hearts album.

Awakening was definitely Jackie's best album, followed by DWM, then SFTSS. I don't think I will ever warm up to 2 hearts, there were too many poor selections and mediocre tracks.

Every once in a while, AccuRadio plays this and my world has to stop everything until its over!
IMHO, this song portrays Jackie's voice in all it's beauty:
Dormi Jesu

That's a particularly beautiful one. I know they're Broadway songs but I wish they'd found something like that (maybe from an older Opera) on The Debut.
The Dormi Jesu version on Awakening was originally a Chilean tune. Opera singer Kathleen Battle also sang it, and on youtube there's a battle (haha!) between her fans and Jackie fans. I do think Jackie holds her own against a seasoned pro quite well :-)
