I've been wondering lately if Jackie might be on the outs with her hometown. Lisa had a few choice words to say about Pittsburghers, responding to comments made on local TV station websites about Juliet and the transgender issue. I read some of them and can see why Lisa called them "window lickers". I wouldn't use that term myself. I'd probably say "knuckle draggers". I found the ignorance and hatefulness appalling, and it's not even my daughter or sister they're talking about. I would like to believe most Pittsburghers aren't like that. Still, maybe Jackie and Juliet were glad to get away. Jackie was gung-ho back in 2014 to return to regular school, but by the time of her last live FB Q&A she was describing school as "awful". Jackie and Juliet had some classes together and I recall reading somewhere that Jackie was tasked to report to the school administration when Juliet got bullied. I had to think about why that might be and realized that Juliet might have been discouraged and felt, "why bother?", "what good would it do to report, anyway?" Jackie was there to ensure that Juliet wouldn't give in, let such incidents pass and internally normalize the bullying. We know both these girls to be strong-willed; but, just the same, we're talking about an inordinate amount of stress. For all we know, that might have extended beyond school and into the community at large. I've been a bit leery of their move to NYC, mostly because they are both quite young and inexperienced; but maybe it's good for them to be in a new environment.

And one to explain why it's called the Duquesne Incline. Note the angle of the car against the track... Built and operational since the late 1800s! Below is Mike's brother Jeff's painting of this scene in snow and at night, 2001. He is not just any art teacher, per his Twitter: twitter.com/Jeff_EvanchoDon edited (Click to enlarge):

That's very beautiful. I watched another video he did for another sister who had died. I haven't been to any poetry readings since college. Maybe I should get out and support some of these spoken word artists.

Jackie's record remains perfect, EVERY home team that asked Jackie to sing the National Anthem before their game has WON that game.
