If you all give her a little time she will have it perfected, just like she does everything else.

"Unfortunately the little girl grew up..." ... my first thought when I saw a Jackie-video was: This is a fake. My second: The Japanese have built a new robot with perfect voice. If this would be true Jackie would stay 10years for decades. So now we know she is a human. And humans grow with phases.
The lyrics are all new style like the music. Black and threatening. Now we know that the human Jackie is not only the angel we saw outward. As everybody. May destroy the image someone had from her. But for me all 16-years old have in her develop what I call a "black phase" (me including). They wear black clothes, hold back and turn inside, make the impression to be depressive, black thoughts. Thats a normal phase like the pupa state. There can slide a night moth or a wonderful elegant butterfly, who knows? ( I don`t think ist a depressiv reaction to Trump though the lyric let think it). Let`s watch the change.

There can slide a night moth or a wonderful elegant butterfly, who knows? ( I don`t think ist a depressiv reaction to Trump though the lyric let think it). This is for me the look into the soul of a growing person and from a 16-y. I wouldn`t expect others. We old gays may not be able to understand whats going on in a 16-y soul but at my patients I see it often and its normal. The personality is all other than at adult. There wakes up a feeling we call in Germany "Weltschmerz", one cries only cause one is born. Thoughts like in "Reflection", may be the first lost love. My beloved YUI began with songwriting at 16 too and her songs showed black thoughts too, working on her fate, asking "why" and reflecting who to be. The lyrics are mostly not easy to understand, stay unclear, express more a feeling, not a clear sence. More a suggestion like modern poems or traditional japanese poems. All other than we were used. Songs like "To mother", "Rain", Please stay with me", "Tomorrows way" and esp. "Tokyo" show YUI`s development and feelings and made her so special, all other than the normal japanese pop. One such true song I like more than the whole ouvre of others. Let`s not forget that in history of music it was often the pain, lost love ore other strikes of fate that promoted the composers to great works. Expressing bad feelings is necessary to heal them. May be I´m interprating too much into this song but I`ve a little the same feeling as discovering a new artist. The merry girl is gone, we`ll discover a serious adult human. Let`s watch the change. I`m glad to see here true feelings, may be bad feelings. To transfer it into own songs is a new step for her, that`s what makes me joy. And the first composition rarly was the best, I hope to a long line of own songs. In FB Jackie wrote: "...and comment! Would mean the World to me 😍😄". We are at a place of high meaning, like her first singing contest with 7 years. There she showed her voice and looked for consent. Now she shows her first song and looks for reactions. As her first singing was not perfect as it may be here too, who exspect perfection at the first step. What counts is the talent as then as now. As she developed her voice she will grow in songwriting and I see very good disposition. How nervous must she be showing her first song? Like a child that shows his first picture. It needs courage. It`s a fresh seed, we should be happy for this step, not trample on it. If it is grown to a tree you may shake it.

The Haunting video should never have been posted or the song performed. If you are going to present a new self written song you need a professional video. This is an amateur video taken with a cellphone. The audio is dreadful. The band drowns out Jackie to the point that the words are unintelligible. This is really bad.

I am a diehard Jackie fan. I love Jackie and when she sings with her classical voice she is next to none. The Haunting. In my opinion this song is really bad. After reading the lyrics I have no idea what the song is about. It's slow, boring, and it makes no sense. It's just a bunch of words strung together with no point. If this is her first try at song writing she should have thrown it away and started over. It should have never been recorded. Jackie has no future singing stuff like this. Rick, give her a chance!!!!! Remember when you said Peter Kiesewalter was "Peter Karaoke" & couldn't possibly be up to the task of accompanying Jackie the way an orchestra could? Then you went to see her & said "less is more"; Peter did a great job. We heard a sound check of this new song. Let's wait for a better album mix & give her a chance to work the song's emotions, figure out how she wants to sing it. Jackie worked on OMBC for 2 years before she sang it on AGT; we know because of the (magical) age 8 version, when she said she'd just learned it. As far as what the song is about, have you listened to any pop songs lately? Lots of them are that way. The lyrics are vague & could mean a lot of things, but there's a good focus here. Waldschratt is exactly right, they're like Weltscherz ("world pain"), "black" lyrics. They're a sign of Jackie's emotional depth. She's not just thinking about sweet "dreamy" things like when she contributed ideas to the Dream With Me title song original. If Jackie decides to keep songwriting, it could take her years to become really good at it. A very few musical geniuses (Tchaikovsky, Brian Wilson, Thelonious Monk, etc) are gifted enough to just hear original music in their heads, but most composers/songwriters have to work & work at it. It may take a long time to get it right. And those geniuses might have to pay a price in terms of mental stability (or lack thereof). The Haunting has verses, a chorus, a break/turn-around & a sort-of coda. It has a melody & chord progression. It's not terribly sophisticated but it's a pretty good 1st effort IYAM. Patience is a virtue.

It is a shame that some find Jackie's new song not to their liking. I feel the song was influenced by Amy Lee and Evanesence. With the proper band it could be considered Alternative Metal and with the proper band backing her this song could be hit. Maybe Jackie should sell it to Evanesence.

Waldschratt, Very interesting thoughts. But who's YUI? It may belong into the threat "Other Artists" I listend rarely to vocal music, then I looked a picture from Yui Aragaki, she sang pretty songs with very weak voice and I looked for more. So I found YUI and fall in love with some of her songs. First time I became a fan of a singer long before Jackie. She wrote some years a lot of songs and mostly reached Nr.1 in Japan, one album reached Nr.2 of World-charts. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yui_%28singer%29

I'm not enthusiastic about her voice, but her songs are very melodic & pretty. She reminds me of Suzanne Vega, or maybe Joni Mitchell. I'd love it if Jackie could hear her music.

The little black dress: makes my left arm feel cold. It reminds me of that episode of original Star Trek where the Enterprise crew meets Apollo and he says that the bow arm should be bare. Maybe that means Jackie is still into archery.

I'd love it if Jackie could hear her music. Yes, she hates her voice herself and at live concerts when nervous the pitch is not good but she`s top as songwriter. Unfortunately sony deleted all PVs. Jackie`s lyrics reminded me to her. I agree with ricolsen that the vid of a rehershal is not the best way to show a new song. But I think Jackie was proud and couldn`t wait to do this, so we have an impression what we can wait for. And it`s better than posting the first own song by a fan by bad cellphone vid. I wonder if it stays at e-guitars.

I must in honest agree not because Rick is a admin but because I think the same , it sounds like a Juliet song or thoughts , too dark an deep for a 16 year old an this will not go over well imo with her now fan base or the youth , perhaps a few goth type but Jackie and then Jacob had a dark side on postings over years , I would not release any of songs on a future album but what do I know , let them buy it if fans and hope for new fans on the Album , no free samples
