I thought for sure the hometown show would be a near sell out. If she is going to perform, perhaps she could secure a section of seats, for new fans... it could be anyone... a school group or community group... whatever cause she may wish to promote. A group of seats for band/choir members at a supportive school. I know so many schools have a range of elective programs. I say the band or choir as they undoubtedly have an interest in music and performing arts. But there could be any number of possibilities. Someone could inquire what elective groups were available at neighboring schools and see if there is a good fit. Maybe members from the LGBT community. There is probably a large community in Pittsburgh. They may not know if they would like a classical concert, but if they know she has spoken in support and would like to reach out to them. Overall, it may be an opportunity to secure new fans, build a good image by supporting groups, the community, or other people.But who knows, it may not be possible. I do not know how much control they would have over venue seats. And the logistics at this last hour may be too difficult. Nick, I know you mean well, but the reason her sales are currently so poor likely has at least something to do with her embracing this very community, as has been discussed extensively here on the forum. I think it would be a mistake to "rub salt in the wounds" as it were, by continuing to concentrate on this societal sub-group. I would certainly hate to see Jackie become another Cher, Judy Garland or Liza Minnelli clone, a shadow of her former self "getting by" by pandering to the homosexual crowd and foregoing her other former fans. I realize this is far from what you have in mind, but her and their opponents would seize on this and use it to continue to bash her with it.

The Evancho's seem to have pis*ed a lot of people off in Pittsburgh that's for sure, now they are showing that by not buying tickets to her concert. The place is empty.

I think Jamesn and Nick's discussion above is valid for the forum, and should remain.

I think Jamesn and Nick's discussion above is valid for the forum, and should remain. I agree Mike. I'm hoping the crybabies here can look at it and see how two fans, two gentlemen, can express differing positions with out resorting to rudeness or claiming the other is morally reprehensible for holding a different viewpoint.

I've talked to some real live Pittsburghers today. "Yes, she's from here in Pittsburgh", they say proudly. But none of them knew she had a concert tomorrow. I detect no animosity toward Jackie or any members of her family.

I find that hard to believe. Next excuse.

For those of you hoping this concert gets cancelled, better luck next time. I just saw Peter Kiesewalter at breakfast at the hotel. Must be in town on business.

There are very, very few on this fan site who wish to have Jackie's concert cancelled. However, if you go to another site you will find a larger percentage do, in fact, wish that, but they are small in numbers on that mostly anti-fan site. Hence, the majority of those posters on that site I have on ignore. I look forward to your review of the concert.

Speaking of Peter Kiesewalter, I didn't say a word to him this morning--not even good morning-- because he was eating. But if I ran into him in the elevator, I'd tell him that the fans are liking his backing vocals, especially on Writing's On the Wall. He deserves credit for providing music to support Jackie, whether it's him alone or with other musicians, whom he then has to conduct. I suspect this type of flexibility was partly why he was hired. Lisa once said it was because he could conduct from the piano.

Sorry Charlie, no one at Amazon wishes Jackie's concert to be cancelled and if you're going to make a statement like that you better have some evidence to back that up.

entertainmentcentralpittsburgh.com/coolpicks/jackie-evancho-pens-vs-sabres/Crystalline-voiced Jackie Evancho Plays Benedum; Pens vs. Sabres (Sun., 3/5/17);
By Rick Handler - March 3, 2017 1) Who knew there was a world-class voice talent living in the Pine-Richland area? Well, evidently, Jackie Evancho knew! She started out by entering talent contests, including St. Barnabas’ Kean Idol. Acting was also in Evancho’s early repertoire. She performed in Pittsburgh Musical Theater’s version of High School Musical in 2007. She cut an independent album, Prelude to a Dream, and what a prelude to a dream it was. Evancho posted videos of her performances to YouTube. She was turned down twice in auditions for NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” The third time was indeed the charm. The ladder to mega-stardom presented itself in 2010 after the nation heard her incredible classical song performances on “America’s Got Talent.” She came in second. Since then, she has recorded five albums, all of which achieved success on the music charts, and is the youngest artist ever to achieve platinum sales status. She sang the national anthem at the presidential inauguration and is releasing a new album this year titled Two Hearts. Her work has included numerous singing appearances, acting roles such as playing Robert Redford’s daughter in the 2013 film The Company You Keep, and some modeling. She is active in many charitable organizations and was named one of the Ten Best-Mannered People in 2011 by a national organization. Needless to say, Kanye West didn’t make that list. What a great opportunity to see a hometown gal done good. 7 p.m. Benedum Center, 237 7th St., Cultural District. 2) Tonight at the PPG Paints Arena our Pens. face off against the Buffalo Sabres. It’s nice to see Marc-André Fleury still with the Penguins after the recent NHL trading deadline. The Penguins did however make a trade, picking up Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Mark Streit in return for a 4th round draft pick in 2018. 5 p.m. 1001 Fifth Ave., Uptown.
3) What U.S. city was the first to host the Olympics (see the end of this pick for the answer)? This and other questions are some that you may be faced with while playing team trivia. One such location for this activity is Sidelines Bar & Grill in Millvale, run by Pittsburgh Bar Trivia and hosted by Entertainment Central team member Christopher Maggio. Teams can have up to ten people, registration for the Sunday night competition begins at 7:45 p.m. and the match runs from 8-10 p.m. What is to be gained from attending a trivia night? A fun outing, knowledge (or realizing how much you don’t know), camaraderie, and for the winning team—one free drink per person. The answer to the trivia question is St. Louis, Missouri in 1904. 621 Evergreen Rd., Millvale. Edit: Maybe 2) is the reason for the weak ticket selling

I just rode the Duquesne Incline this afternoon. In my car were two families from Buffalo, here for the hockey game. So, it does seem to be a big deal.

Which seems to be a big deal, the Duquesne Incline or the hockey game? The game. Lots of people wearing Penguins or Sabres shirts today. I don't know hockey, except that th Penguins won it all last year.
