Doesn't your browser support an ad-blocker?
I wouldn't open mine without it running.

But I consider ads (or subscriptions to avoid them) a legitimate way for providers such as Proboards to make money. If too many people use ad-blockers, won't they likely find a more insidious way to make money, like peddling data?

To my dismay, I discovered that wayne, aka Rocket J Squirrel, has deleted his account, and apparently all his posts on his famous Whine and Cheese Cast of Characters thread which I found a very innovative gesture of his affection for us. We communicated regularly with PMs -a good friend. I've been missing him, wondering why he has withdrawn lately. A sad loss for the forum, particularly those of us who came to love the guy and his fondness for "joshing" and friendly "ridicule". I was a willing recipient and enjoyed his bantering with me and others. He offered something rare and special. Please come back, wayne. And, forgive us for whatever reason you chose to depart. You are missed.

IF he ever comes back, I would hope that he would tone things down some.

Why would you "dislike" a post remembering a fellow fan and friend?
Maybe you don't understand. Several of us have often been "on the other end" of his friendly ridicule. It's his home-spun approach to comradery, guys "ribbing" each other with unoffensive insults. Poking fun is his manner of showing affection. If you're willing to take some shots and give some back in jest, you're OK in his book. We had fun with it.
If he were to come back, he wouldn't likely "tone things down" to make you or anyone else feel better. He would say, "get a sense of humor and join in....You will like it" But, I don't think he will return, because apparently he gave a lot of thought to his decision.

I do find it somewhat humorous that you felt the need to apologize for all of us. Speaking for myself, I have nothing to apologize to him for at all. However, I know you miss your tag team buddy, so you have my deepest sympathies. :-)

Of course, I wasn't speaking for you. Don't know why you suppose I would.

There's no thread for complaints anymore, so I'll announce my dismay here.
Considering the number of members who log in each day (about 25) there is an astounding lack of interest in "liking" contributions that are being made by the few. For example, yellowstone2014 offers something current almost daily and hasn't been getting more than 2-4 likes, a few with five or six (including jrchico). One should show an appreciation for another's effort if to at least acknowledge that you've viewed his/her posts. Do members log in just to check the "paticipated" list and then log out?
Also, contributing to the conversation with some positive input, regardless how insignificant one may think his/her comment might be, would stimulate some responses and fresh interaction ( I would hope). Don't give that lame old excuse that "Jackie isn't doing enough" as some do. Her video, just posted yesterday has received a dismal response here. There were 71 enthusiastic comments on YouTube very soon after (presently 137). Those who do the posting aren't giving excuses. Come on, guys. Show your support.

But I consider ads (or subscriptions to avoid them) a legitimate way for providers such as Proboards to make money. If too many people use ad-blockers, won't they likely find a more insidious way to make money, like peddling data? Ad blockers for Apple's Safari browser used to be implemented using extensions. Now, I guess there are more restrictions on Safari extensions, and some ad blockers are done using a separate app (which I guess is allowed to hook into the browser somehow). I use AdBlock for Safari (app). I gather one has to run the app at least once; whether it actually has to be running otherwise, I'm not so sure, although if it has to update its ad detection data, it might have to be running for that. As to the choice to use an ad blocker, most default to blocking but allow unblocking particular sites, whether to cooperate in supporting the site, or because the site detects ad blockers and refuses to provide the content unless one unblocks them, which is the typical countermeasure to ad blockers.

Lawrence, I don't know about others, but when I read a post, I decide rapidly whether I should like it. It is based upon gut feelings and could be different if I read it a few hours later. As to the "Jackie removing Rachel's upper-lip hair" video, it just didn't interest me. Should that really interest a 70-year old man? I do think that it is good that Jackie is trying to post human-interest videos, and I liked the first, at least I think that I did. Undoubtedly, this video was intended for another audience -- they can like it.

It's ok not to like everything that is posted on here about Jackie. Freedom of choice! :-)
