This is where Jackie still excels. The pop music is okay, but this is still what turns heads. That's why it's good that Jackie's next album only contains pop songs. She doesn't excel with the pop songs like she does with the cc that made her famous.

Sorry, opinion aside...that's utter nonsense. Jackie excels at cc still. Her last several albums, aka non cc music, has been meh.. Her general decline over the years in terms of popularity reflects that the general public agrees with me. I enjoy just about anything that Jackie sings, but her fan base, including me, will always love her cc and just like/put up with her pop/broadway tunes. CC is where she truly shines even today and stands out from others. The other stuff she is just another pretty voice in a sea of pretty voices and doesn't stand out like she does with cc. I don't blame her for wanting to try other stuff...she should...but I'm just stating the way it is.

Jackie's strong point may always be CC but I thought she did pretty darn well as Kitty on "The Masked Singer." I for one would like to hear her do more of the old standards. Let Jackie continue to grow and expand her range. She still has a long career ahead of her.

I agree she did well on Masked Singer...problem was, she did it anonymously for all but the last five minutes of time on the show. Jackie will keep exploring other genres...and she should. But nothing I have heard her sing approaches what she can do with cc. It's nice...but not good enough to substantially grow her fan base into a new genre.

Jackie's early success came only through her young age. At the same time, the interest in sung CC in the USA has fallen enormously. Jackie's voice is still CC, but when Jackie sings "o mio babbino caro" her technical weaknesses become clear. one is that Jackie can't sing legato. It's just the stupid mindset of certain fans that Jackie can only be successful with CC. One Question :which cc songs should Jackie sing.

Her branching out to other genres was a normal progression for a young singer attempting to find music that she felt comfortable singing, but, in all her albums, she has retained CC songs. She has, on many occasions, told us that she will never abandon her roots, and she hasn't! The world of Classical performers is littered with those that attempted to abandon Classical, and failed: Charlotte Church and Holly Stell come to mind and there are many others! Jackie is still experimenting and, unfortunately, Covid-19 and her mental state have slowed down her musical travels, but I believe she will settle on a mix of Genres in the final outcome. As a final note, here's a test for all those that think her forte is Pop!! At her concerts, what Genre produces the most Standing Ovations? Classical or Pop?

Pop. Without a question.

Pop. Without a question. Well, you'd be wrong!! I have hundreds of set lists of Jackie's concerts going back to the Fox Theatre on April 14, 2014. These set lists were produced from reviews submitted by forum members who actually attended her concerts. The majority of reviewers reported those songs that produced Standing Ovations and I have notated those songs with (SO). After searching my set lists for (SO), the majority were her renditions of the songs from The Phantom Of The Opera (Think Of Me, Music Of The Night, etc.), How Great Thou Art, The Impossible Dream, O Mio Babbino Caro, Nessun Dorma, all NOT POP! No (SO)'s for "I'm Not That Girl", or "She Used To Be Mine", or "Burn, or "Falling Slowly"!! Set Lists are available upon request.

Everything else is not classic, i.e. pop. Calculated that way, pop is the clear winner.

Before arguing whether Jackie's voice is best suited for CC or pop, it may be reasonable to determine what we mean by CC. If you search on Spotify for CC it lists "Pop classics and show tunes sung by legendary classical voices" and includes Andrea Bocelli, Katherine Jenkins, and Josh Groban. Examples of songs listed are Nella Fantasia, All I Ask of You, Send in the Clowns, and What a Wonderful World. But for diehard classical crossover fans only Nella Fantasia may qualify. If that is the case, and we wish for Jackie to limit her singing to operatic and classical compositions only, then her fan base will indeed remain limited. I would argue for the following definition for CC: "Classical crossover is a genre that hovers between classical and popular music, and is usually targeted at fans of both types of music. In the most common type of crossover, classically trained performers (most often operatic superstars) sing popular songs, folk music, show tunes, or holiday songs. I should hope Jackie's voice is suited for this style of singing.

Well she did not win losing to a "soul" singer. Among the four songs she sang (O Mio Babbino Caro, Time to Say Goodbye, Pie Jesu, Ave Maria), it was "Time to Say Goodbye," a pop ballad, that in my subjective recollection, earned her the most sustained applause. I would suggest her celebrity at that time was as much a result of her age coupled with her voice rather than her song selections. I would even offer that had she sang a more popular ballad (perhaps something from the Phantom of the Opera) in the finals rather than "Ava Maria", she might have won.

Time to Say Goodbye, also sung by opera star Andrea Bocelli, also clearly falls into the cc category. Completely disagree with you finals comment. Ava Maria was incredible for Jackie in the Finals and "Phantom of the Opera" would not have changed the outcome. Don't get me wrong, fans enjoy a lot of Jackie's other stuff...Songs from the Silver Screen was great for example, and people enjoy Phantom of the Opera stuff as well. Just saying later albums which attempted more contemporary songs like Two Hearts and The Debut didn't fare very well and aren't where Jackie really stands out from the crowd and shines. As an adult, no longer the cute kid with the booming voice, she is just good singing more contemporary, modern content. But she doesn't stand out much in the sea of great voices singing modern pop today. However, when she gets up and sings cc-ish songs, she's GREAT and really shines even to this day.
