I don't know if you're only talking about the photos here or not, but of course there have been many comparisons between both Jackie's and Charlotte's singing and the thrust of their careers. I didn't know anything about CC except in reference to Jackie, so when I found a cheesy "teen" autobiography of CC I bought and read as well as a later more "mature" one written a few years later. I also have her earliest cd's and two or three PBS dvd's as well. Both also worked as youngsters with David Foster and he discusses CC in his autobiography Hit Man. I've fervently hoped Jackie wouldn't end up anything like Charlotte in her later career and thus far am satisfied she hasn't and hopefully won't.
The problem with CC was that she was ever so slightly older at 11 or 12 than Jackie was at 10, and was already notably more psychologically mature and "sophisticated". She was probably an illegitimate child from a somewhat unstable background; her doting but somewhat ditzy mother at one point went off the deep end and attempted suicide. CC's "role model" was an ambitious aunt with show business aspirations who was indirectly responsible for her discovery. Their mutual background was the British dance hall and nightclub scene, complete with drinking, smoking, and carousing; CC has admitted a definite taste for those, as well as for rugby and/or soccer players, one of which she married in what proved unsurprisingly to be an unstable union that ended in infidelity and divorce. She eagerly totally abandoned her singing career as The Voice of an Angel which she says she despised in order to embrace hosting smutty tv tabloid-type talk shows, and supposedly did very well until changing tastes of a fickle public seems to have curtailed it. She's returned to music, but pop/rock instead of the Crossover Classical she like Jackie made her name with.

I don't know if you're only talking about the photos here or not Yes here I was just talking about the photos. Too late! Other comparisons could easily be made, particularly in their relative output, choice of duet partners, etc. One DVD I have is a Christmas Concert featuring (mainly) Placido Domingo, Vanessa Williams, and Tony Bennett with CC a "special guest" featured in two or three numbers. In her last autobiography she says catty things about both Williams (too much makeup) and Bennett (a nice old man but one who should retire - and that a decade before he dueted with Jackie, much less Lady GaGa!), which indicated the future tack she was to take as a talk show host. I think in the long run her cd's and dvd's are by now fewer than Jackie's, but since she was producing them long before i Tunes, etc. she made a LOT more from them than Jackie has hers.

According to CC's second autobiography (the first one came out when she was only fourteen and still a CC performer) she quickly grew tired of the Voice of an Angel publicity and especially hated Webber's Pie Jesu with which she was associated much like Jackie with OMBC. Many early posts I read on various Jackie forums attributed CC's decline and fall to her abandoning classical music, but her autobiography paints a very different picture: apparently she instead shifted to a lucrative and more enjoyable career as talk show host and never looked back to her early days.
Of course Jackie has always stated her intention to continue with CC music and it's hard to imagine her being as vitriolic about her early music and career as Church. Of course, Jackie has dabbled in other projects like Redford's movie TCYK, and so Church also had her movie as well. Although TCYK wasn't a financial or critical success as we had hoped it would be, it nevertheless seems to have been a more prestigious project than Church's which was either low-budget or possibly even for tv featuring her as the only "name" participant. Perhaps unfortunately for both of them the single movie experience has yet to produce further offers or opportunities, at least as far as we know.

Let me say, I had the unfortunate experience of seeing an interview with Julie Andrews and Charlotte Church when Church was 15 or 16. It appeared they were promoting a joint tour. or appearance or something. Julie Andrews was, of course, just as you would expect. Warm, funny and totally professional Charlotte Church was a total brat. All I could think of was what is she like off-camera? I mean my God. Just once saw a flicker of distaste in Julie Andrews eyes, quickly masked.. What happened to Church is because she was a jerk. I'm sure Jackie isn't a saint, but I don't think she could ever behave as Church did.

I'm sure Jackie isn't a saint, but I don't think she could ever behave as Church did. That almost sounded like a compliment. :-) I do think that Jackie got taught politeness and took it seriously, regardless of the alternative example in SWMNBN's more colorful vocabulary and recurring difficulty not shooting from the hip. And that it serves well in a professional environment, as well as being endearing (to most - those who prefer attitude at a punk rock level would be elsewhere anyway).

The last I remember hearing from or about CC was in connection with the Trump inauguration, and that was after reading her autobiographies and Wikipedia bio. She CLAIMED she was one of many who adamantly REFUSED to perform at it, but I can easily believe Trump's later statement (not about her specifically) that there were many who made the claim who were never asked in the first place. It's hard to imagine, regardless how popular she had once been, by then well over a decade earlier, why a Welsh singer who hadn't had a hit in years would've been invited when one who was well-known to Trump and his team and still actively performing was so imminently available! On the OTHER hand, another catty but hilarious story she told involved George W. Bush, who when she was introduced at some function asked her what part of the U. S. Wales was in!
