Lawrence, Thank you for the wonderful review! I have been looking forward to your review, and you did not disappoint. In another thread a few weeks ago, I asked for anyone that had attended a recent concert and was lucky enough to experience Jackie sing Imaginer with her beautiful mature voice, to give their opinion of how it compared to the version she recorded on the [abbr style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #000000;" title="Dream With Me"]DWM[/abbr] album. There are a few songs she recorded when she was 10 years old that were so well done that I cannot imagine could ever be equaled, two of the songs at the top of this list are Imaginer and Nella Fantasia. SBL concerts recently posted a short video of Jackie rehearsing Imaginer in Spokane, and even though the clip is short, and the audio quality is not very good, it seems that Jackie can still sing it as beautifully, or maybe even better now. If you don’t mind, could you please give me your thoughts on this. Thank you curtis, As she has done on many occasions since DWM/DWMIC, Jackie sang the entire song as it was written, excluding the piano interlude that Conrad Tao had performed so splendidly. Actually, I prefer it, because it is such a beautiful part of the song and completes the meaning. Her performance Saturday night was richer with a fuller tone as you might expect, with a deeper quality in the lower register, warmer, you might say. The delivery was more polished with greater finesse, more powerful, particularly the phrases leading to that high note near the end that she consistently hits with precision. The delicate phrases in the beginning really emoted the sensitivity of the song, gradually building toward the more dramatic last phrases that peak and then drift gently to the series of "ooohs" at the end. They were a little more subdued (softer), consequently not having quite the soothing affect that she evoked at Sarasota, but nonetheless a beautiful conclusion. Of course, every performance has it's own nuances. As always Jackie just sings effortlessly from the heart and pulls you "into her experience", no matter the song. And, Imaginer is especially poignant, as she renders it now. Having listened to the DWM rendition again after the concert, I think Jackie has mastered the song with a more mature sense of connection with its meaning. She has lost nothing in her performance, in my view, but gained a certain strength and confidence that gave it a mature character. Whereas, the beauty of her childhood rendition seemed to rely more upon the extraordinary quality of her young voice, just my observation, of course. Her interpretation is just as moving. Even though the lyrics were written specifically for her, she now has a more intimate understanding perhaps. That was evident to me in her expression. It was wonderful. Jackie remarked after her performance of Lovers that the set list was a compilation of favorites. She said, "These are my favorite songs from all my albums, and I hope some are your favorites too". Imaginer was one of the many exquisite performances of the night. As my guests said of the concert, "It was magical!", "Jackie's voice..Oh my..in this grand theater, what a great experience!" lawrence: I agree with your assessment of Imaginer and every so often I find myself listening to her Dream With Me In Concert video with Conrad Tao and upon conclusion, click on Lara Fabian's concert performance of Broken Vow. Interesting experiment to view and listen to contrasting styles and different lyrics. I have often said that as she approaches maturity, she should give Broken Vow a try! Not sure if she can deliver the emotional version that Lara does, but I'll bet it will be a good listen.

Thank you so much Lawrence, I was sure I could count on you! As always, I appreciate your ability to articulate your thoughts and wish I had the ability to do the same. I hope someday to be able to experience Jackie sing Imaginer live, as it is on the top of my list of favorite Jackie songs. The problem I have is, my list of favorite Jackie songs is quite extensive, and it would be extremely difficult for me to pick one that is my absolute favorite. If I absolutely had to pick one of Jackie’s songs, that would be the only song I would ever be able to hear again, (which would be complete agony) I would have to pick Nella Fantasia. There is something about that song, especially her rendition, that just gets to me. Maybe someday she will sing it again, and if she does, I would do whatever it took to be there to experience it.

However, Broken Vow will always be Lara's special gift to us with her incomparable presentation of what she referred to as "that rare song that comes into one's head somehow", to paraphrase. It's so personal to her. I think Jackie has great respect for Lara and will likely stay with Imaginer as "her own" with the French lyrics. In my view it is better suited to her, at least until she is in her late 20's or so. If she were to have an experience that would compel her to sing such a poignantly sad song, my guess is she would write it herself, or I hope she would. Jackie has her own inimitable style built upon her "perfect tone", her interpretive skill and her unique, expert use of falsetto which gives her songs their special quality, and would no doubt do the song justice musically. But, in my opinion, some songs should be left alone, despite Jackie's ability to cover as successfully as she has. Let's say, I wouldn't be disappointed if she passed on Broken Vow and continued to treat us with Imaginer forever.

But, maybe she has been convinced that her childhood rendition should be deservedly left to history, especially her extraordinary performance on The Talk which I don't think even Jackie can surpass -maybe preserved for a documentary some day. But, she has such potential, who knows what she will be capable of in years to come. Here's hoping.
By the way, I'm a sucker for Mi Mancherai, and I hope she revives that heart-rending masterpiece one day while I still have the ear to fully enjoy it.

Perhaps you are right: Imaginer is Jackie's and Broken Vow is Lara's! Maybe it should stay that way.

Thank you, yellowstone2014
I'm pleased to read Len's accounting of events and personal experience at the Martin Woldson Theater. Wish I had known he was there. Would like to have met him. It appears his review compliments mine with the added interest of his personal interactions. It was, as he said, " a mesmerizing Jackie concert".

This morning, I received a "Halloween" card from my cousin (first time since we were kids) whom I invited along with a friend to Jackie's concert at the Martin Woldson Theater. The caption on the card is Trick or Treat. Her hand-written message reads:
"The word "TREAT" made me think of you and the WONDERFUL treat of Jackie's concert which I am still savoring!
Thank you so much for the truly MEMORABLE evening. It is -and has been- the gift that keeps on giving!" Debby
